Valencia City is a real gem; a combination of the old and new, a unique 9 kilometre long park that follows the route of the old River Turia, and a warm, welcoming, very comfortable Spanish feel to it.

Valencia is a city that benefits from having everything at hand. Once you have found your bearings you'll find that most places are within easy reach on foot, for example, the historical buildings in the centre, the Central Market with nearly 1000 stalls set in a fine art deco building, the cathedral, the Lonja (old silk exchange), the barrio del Carmen (the old quarter), the ceramics museum, the museum of fine art, the IVAM (museum of modern art), the botanical gardens, the Malvarrosa beach, the Port America's Cup... the sites are endless!  Alternatively you can take a stroll along the old River Turia park taking in the spectacularly modern City of Arts and Sciences, the imposing Opera house, the Palau de la Musica, the Oceanografic aquarium (the largest in Europe), and the numerous bridges, old and new, that cross the park.

A tourist bus also operates from the centre and takes a comprehensive ride through the narrow streets of the old quarter, the city centre and the new city of arts and sciences with various stop-off points on route. Valencia city never stops adding to the list of spectacles on offer, the latest attraction being the home to the European Formula 1 Grand Prix street circuit in autumn.

For those who find shopping a must, Valencia has a wide variety of shops ranging from the typical high street brands to a number of El Corte Ingles (the national department store), Valencia has a fabulous selection of markets and the newly refurbished Mercado Colon is well worth a visit. Set in a beautiful modernist building a popular place to unwind, relax and watch the world go by. Calle Colon is very trendy and one of the most popular places in Valencia. If you are hunting for the latest fashion you are sure to find it there.
